NY Post – Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins seems pretty confident his team will defend its World Series championship against the Yankees. Mariano Rivera is equally sure of his team. “Of course we’re gonna win. If we’re nice, we’ll let it go six, but I’m thinking five, close it out at home,” Rollins said on “The Jay Leno Show” Monday night. Rivera’s response today, with the same death stare he fixes on hitters from the mound: “I could care less what he said. That’s not what is going to happen.’’ Rollins, for his part, did not back down today. “I think it would be very tough to take four,” Rollins said before the Phillies workout at Yankee Stadium. “You figure one game they are going to find a way to win. That’s the way it is.” Derek Jeter joked that Rollins was being generous. “Jimmy is a nice guy; at least he gave us six,” the Yankees captain said. “Hey, man, I got no comment on that. Jimmy likes to have fun. He likes to joke around. We spent three for weeks together in the WBC. We enjoyed ourselves, we had a great time.’’ “He’s Nostradamus, that’s what I heard,” Jorge Posada said. “He’s been doing a lot of good predictions, so we have to take that away from him.’’ “I enjoy playing baseball on the road and silencing the other team’s fans,” Rollins said. “There is no better feeling than that. That means you’ve done something good, you’re winning.”
Whats the difference between future hall of famers and a one year wonder who is just hanging on his teammates coattails. The answer is class. The Yankees will enter the World Series with the best record in the MLB, and the only team to achieve 100 wins. They will let their play do the talking while Rollins will talk before because after the series he wont be talking so i understand his stance. He had big balls for his prediction. Maybe he should take a page out of Jeter's book. Ever wonder why the biggest of Yankee Haters like Jeter?
