Conan O....

http://assets.hulu.com/shows/key_art_the_tonight_show_with_conan_obrien.jpg          The newest form of the "foxtrot" between yes.... the  Fox network and NBC's lambasted late night host, Conan O'Brien, has gotten a little bit more interesting lately when the president of Fox laid "it" out in much detail about how interested Fox would be in starting a late-night show with the former king of Late late night O’Brien. All of this could happen only if he found a way to remove himself from his NBC contract.
That of course will be a difficult removal, at least as some senior NBC executives see it. Even though he is being removed  from the 11:35 p.m. time period he was given in June and pushed to after midnight to make room for.... Jay Leno, NBC officials are expressing confidence that the network has not breached Mr. O’Brien’s contract. The reason you may ask is because of the contract, NBC is arguing, guaranteed Mr. O’Brien would be installed as host of “The Tonight Show” and never specifically included a time in the contract. Basically if they decided to move the show to 5pm, they could with no problems due to the wording of the multi-year deal. All of this occur's as long as Tonight show name and franchise follows the show.
http://www.marketingshift.com/resources/fox-logo.gif          The contractual terms could affect Fox’s pursuit of Mr. O’Brien in several ways. Fox acknowledged that even if Mr. O’Brien found a home with them NBC could insist that it had the right to keep Mr. O’Brien from starting a show for an extended period of time which could be as long as a year or more.
Conan's people and I dont mean Max and Andy have a very different interpretation of whether NBC’s actions constitute a breach of his contract. Both sides predicted that the issue would not end up in a legal battle. The Fox network also stated that they can not speak to any of the contractual issues that Mr. O’Brien may face. He said it was up to Mr. O’Brien to “make the decision about his future.”
http://www.uncoached.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/seinfeld_spinoffs_4.jpg           But even if Conan was to jump ship to FOX, it would defiantly cost FOX a tremendous amount of the green, How much you may ask? Well considering FOX could lay out a nice deal  for Conan but it wouldn't come close to the $45 million left on his current NBC deal (which would be voided of course) but their still would be some settlement required for NBC to release Conan. Another NBC executive said that Mr. O’Brien was making considerably less than the $20 million a year previously reported and put the figure at “closer to $10 million a year than $20 million.”
The Fox network has also disputed the notion that Mr. O’Brien’s reputation might have suffered from NBC’s apparent conclusion that his ratings on “The Tonight Show” were unimpressive. “I don’t think he is damaged goods in the least,” said Fox offical Kevin Reilly. “I think his show is working.” Several NBC executives suggested Fox might be more interested in tweaking NBC than seriously pursuing Mr. O’Brien, citing the costs of starting a late-night franchise — which the NBC executive estimated at $70 million — and issues the network might have with getting its local affiliates to give up lucrative syndicated programs, like reruns of “Seinfeld,” to make room.
Late Show with David Letterman-Logo.jpg          As the days move forward im sure everything will work out. I would seriously like to see Conan on FOX. He can return to his late night roots but at 11:35. Conan was forced to change his style due to his changed fan base. It was unfair toward Conan for NBC to basically tell him what to do. When Carson left the Tonight Show everyone thought that it would be David Letterman and not Jay Leno to be the successor, but NBC stabbed its own and didnt choose Letterman. Letterman jumped the CBS over 15 years ago and he is doing fine and making his own legacy. His show is at the standard that when David plans to retire it will be a tremendous honor to take his place similar to what Jay did after Johnny and Conan did after Jay. But like Letterman, Conan is being stabbed in the back .... by yes NBC once again.

AND BACK IN THE MINOR LEAGUES

Many say goddard is one of the toughest men in the NHL

THe king of horse

THe game that turned its back on Jose.

http://www.blavish.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/05/jose-conseco-forclosure.jpg           Essentially many believe this to be true. While “Big Mac” and “Slammin’ Sammy” were ending the century hitting 60+ home runs ole’ Jose Canseco was being shopped around like a sham wow last Christmas. Canseco would land on 4 teams in the last 4 years of the 90s Boston, Oakland, Toronto and Tampa Bay respectively. Although his numbers had been down since his earlier years and were not on the level of McGwire’s his home run totals were still very respectable as he belted 28, 23, 46 and 34. 3 of those seasons had him have less then 502 at bats. In 2000 he would be shipped to the defending and soon to be again world champion New York Yankees. In which he would parlay that into another contract with the Chicago White Sox in 2001. The final two seasons he would hit a combined 31 homeruns. In 2001 at the age of 36 he left the game with 462 home runs 1407 RBIsaveraging 40 HRs and 121 RBIs a year. He still had another year to 3 left in the tank, maybe not the same power he once had but he still could have been serviceable. (Mind you this was all before the steroid revelations that would occur in the middle of the previous decade 2004-2006). If Jose would of stayed on for 3 maybe 2 more years he would of hit his 500th home run thus enshrining him into the hall of fame @ Cooperstown. He wasn’t commanding much of a salary and had accepted his new found role as a “role player”. Being a bench player, pinch hitting, mentoring younger players and being a good club house guy. All this started in his short stop in the Bronx in 2000 when he teamed up with the Yankees to help them win their 26th World Series championship.
http://media.masslive.com/redsoxmonster/images/josecanseco.jpg            Well then why was it that a still productive, cheap and more calm Jose Canseco was out of the game in his mid 30’s ? We may have to look outside of baseball for that. He at the time had 3 times convicted of spousal abuse and domestic violence for either hitting his wife or girlfriend. He also had assault charges and violence within nightclubs or bar settings. Also within the “lines” GM’s and managers also weren’t convinced that he would be a good fit in their club house. Stemming from his past off the field issues, to his on the field antics and club house problems. So when he left the game never to receive another major league offer again he held a grudge, a grudge that changed the foundation of sports forever. He would join on some minor league squads never really getting a legit shot, when he gave up on his dream to return he In 2005, admitted to using anabolic steroids in a tell-all book “Juiced” . He also would claim that up to 85% of all MLB were or had been taking steroids a number that is disputed by many in the game. Jose Canseco is also credited with starting numerous baseball players on steroids.
http://images.dailyradar.com/media/uploads/ballhype/story_large/2009/03/02/rafael_palmeiro.jpg           In the book, Canseco specifically identified former teammates Mark McGwire, Rafael Palmeiro, Jason Giambi, Iván Rodríguez and Juan González as fellow steroid users, and claimed that he injected them. Most of the players named in the book initially denied steroid use, though Giambi admitted to steroid use in testimony before a grand jury , while Palmerio acutally tested positive for PEDs after telling but more recognizibly pointing his finger towards the members of capitol hill during testimony, he stated that he had never taken anything before.
In late December of 2007 Canseco had reached a deal for his sequel to his first book Juiced called Vindicated. The book would hit stores by Opening Day 2008. This book is said to have "stuff" on Alex Rodriguez, and Albert Belle. The book will be a "clarification" of names that shouldn't been mentioned in the Mitchell Report. Many denied the claims but however, on February 7, 2009, Sports Illustrated reported that A-Rod did test positive during his 2003 season, which could make Canseco's book seem more real than it was believed. Finally, on Monday, February 9, 2009 A-Rod confirmed Canseco's previous allegations of steroids use in an exclusive interview; A-Rod admits to using steroids from 2001 to 2003. Rodriguez however denied the allegations written in Canseco's book that Canseco introduced him to a steroid deal calling that information "100% false". He also has had interviews, statements and blogs giving out more information and stating that his info is true, and to this point it has been. All of the denials that were false have been backed by Mr. Canseco.
http://cache.deadspin.com/assets/resources/2008/02/cansecoads.jpg          Since his departure from baseball he had been on numerous early and late night television shows. The Surreal Life he has also been a boxer and K1 fighter. This is what the man is now doing for money prostituting himself for who ever will buy. He also know pushes what he "takes" for his muscular size and strength. McGwire is now back in baseball as a hitting coach for the St. Louis Cardinals, he is now profiting during his life after his playing days Canseco is not and probably will not. MLB turned their back on Jose and he made them pay.

Maris and McGwire

053101_Roger_Maris2_AP.JPGMy father always has said since the steroid era has become public that “Roger Maris is still the single season Home run king”. With players like Barry Bonds, Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa all eclipsing a once unthinkable mark of 61 in a single season. From 1961 to the early 1990’s only one player in the time was able to hit 50 home runs and that was Big Cecil Fielder. With McGwire recent admission of using steroids and HGH should that change the record books? If some one is to hit 61 home runs, clean. Then some one hits 66, 70 and 73 but while using performance enhancing steroids… then who should be the record holder? I feel that question’s answer is very obvious. If they put an asterisk on Maris's record for a short time due to the expansion of the season, then why not for the illegal usage of PEDs. Im sure the MLB and Bud Selig will fuck it up LIKE usual. The real question though is how does this change the legacy that Mr. Maris left. Roger has since passed long ago in 1985 of Hodgkins Lymphoma and obviously unable to see his long standing record fall twice*. Maris during his 12 year career was a 4x all star, 3x world series champion, 2x AL MVP (1960, 61) and also a gold glove winner. Maris also has had the honor of having his #9 retired by the New York Yankees. Over his career he averaged 30 Homeruns and 94 Rbis per season, but during the heart of his career those numbers were higher roughly at 42 HRs and 106 RBIs. Those numbers were from a 162 game per/year projection.

File:YankeesRetired9.svghttp://nbcsportsmedia2.msnbc.com/j/msnbc/Components/Photos/050329/050329_maris_vmed_11a.widec.jpgSo where am I going with this? I feel that it also maybe obvious. Put Roger Maris in the Hall of Fame. His numbers and statistics maybe controversial for the hall of fame but it maybe the only way that Major League Baseball can get this right. The Steroid era potentially could of ruined sports, but this is definitely a step in the right direction.
