LA Angels Starter Jered Weaver Slams the door on a potential Boston Split Last night. Going 7.1 innings of 2 hit ball. Weaver would also strike out 7 Redsox as they try to end the Beantown postseason hex that has been on them for recent years. They take a 2-0 series lead across the country to Boston for Sundays noon showdown.  The big blow was Erick Aybar's 2 run triple in the 7th inning to make it a 4-1 Angel Lead.

Dejected Jason Bay following a 4-1 Redsox loss

The picks
The Redsox stay alive for one more game
BOS-4
LAA-2

GAME 3 SUNDAY

WOW, what a game. Anyone still hating on A-Rod? He can't hit in the clutch. Ummm well we are only 2 games in but how about those people shut their traps for a while. 3 Huge hits, and by huge i mean GIGANTIC. Tonights 9th inning game tieing homerun might of been one of the best ive ever seen in my life. Of course their are some World Series bombs ahead of it but still. A-Rod this season has taken a page from a guy like Curtis Martin. Just show up, stay out of trouble, dont cause trouble, play the game and let your numbers do the talking. Martin isn't considered one of the best running backs of all time even though he is 4th in yardage simply because he was a quite player with no flash or pizzazz at all. He just would show up and play, and it seems that Rodriguez is doing that this year. He seems more relaxed and pressure free something that hasn't occured since he became a Yankee. Having Mark Texiera doesn't hurt either. Tex is a guy who can help "relieve" some of this pressure but it seems that A-Rod is just different all together. Its no secret that A-Rod hasn't been good in the post season. Ohh did i say that? I meant hes sucked. I was at that 2007 ALDS game 4 when he hit that meaningless homerun, and I thought big whoop. But through 2 games Rodriguez is batting .500 with 5 RBI. If you ask me thats pretty nice. Maybe going through that divorce, being caught and having surgery really humbled him and put his mind at ease. It also seems that it refocused him. And that my friends is good for all of us. Oh and by the way, call him out on his chokes now.

ISLANDERS need a new building...RIGHT NOW!

ESPNs own Neil Everett is a devout New York Islanders fan.

Well its not ... its Carla Sarkozy, the First lady of France

but were not too far behind!

ughhhhh.

Godzilla to leave the BX? Torre a Yankee Hater? No Respect for Mauer?

At the end of this baseball season the Yankees will have a very tough decision to make. Do they keep Outfielder Johnny Damon who has been with the ball club since 2006, or do they keep DH Hideki Matsui who has been in pinstripes since 2003. Well who do ya like? There is Damon (35) who turns 36 in early November this season batted .286 with 24 HR and 82 RBI. Maybe Mr. Matsui (35) .276 with 28 HR and 90 RBI. They are very comparable statistically but there in lies a big discrepancy. Matsui is a Designated Hitter while Damon plays the Outfield.

Seems like the Bronx Bombers do not want Matsui back and would rather take a chance on Damon. This coming season they are expecting back outfielder Xavier Nady. They also want to platoon the designated hitter spot. Primarily it could be Damon’s job, but they do want a specific amount of games for Alex Rodriguez, Derek Jeter and Jorge Posada who are all in the mid to late 30’s. They project A-Rod for about 10 games, Posada at about 15+ while Jeter’s are undetermined. If an Outfielder needs a day off Damon could easily be called upon to play that position, something that Matsui probably could not do.
(Damon Left, Matsui Right)
So this leaves the question. Where does Godzilla go? When he was playing in Japan Matsui was very direct in his desire to play for the Yankees and only the Yankees. If the Yankees do not want him then what are his options. There are only 2 other teams that Matsui would sign with over going back to Japan. Seattle seems very obvious due to its Japanese ties with Ichiro Suzuki. Believe it or not they don’t get along at all, they won’t even look at each other. Supposedly Ichiro is the cause for it because Matsui followed suit to the United States 2 years after he did. It didn’t help that this season Matsui hit 2 home runs to right field and gave a wink or a slight point in Ichiro’s direction each time. The option would be the New York Mets. Now wait a second met fans, Matsui would be a perfect fit. His professional approach and patient hitter is just what your team needs. Also his 28 homeruns don’t hurt either. He truly would be a great fit but, he can’t play the field. With the primitive NL still with out a DH that leave Hideki out of Flushing.

If I were Ichiro I would approach Matsui and squash the beef. It seems and sounds and yes IS stupid. Seattle needs all the help they can get and Matsui is a definite help. If Ichiro thinks hes going to win with Ken Griffey Jr. as his DH with his. 214 batting average then he is mistaken. Although I love Griffey it would be in his best interest to hang it up after a poor season. He is considered one of the best of the generation and doesn’t need to wallow in less then mediocre seasons to finish off his career. Junior Griffey was emotional in his last home game this past season leaving people to believe that he may hang it up, but close sources to Griffey say that he may want another go around.  (Griffey Jr. -Right)
Any one find it odd that Joe Torre loves 2 of the most hated men in Yankee history? Former Indian and Red sox Manny Ramirez and Jeff Weaver. Manny was a Yankee Killer in both of his American League stops and Weaver basically killed his own team in the 2003 World Series.
Seems that Bobby Abreu is a God to the LA Angels. Everyone talks him up and his professional approach and ability. He has changed people in the club house for the better. Tweeking swings, changing workouts and approaches have left the Angels clubhouse a different but better place. Too bad that isn’t the same for Joe Mauer and the Twins. Close sources say that he doesn’t have the pull as an Abreu due to his quite approach, a Twins beatwriter said that if Mauer asked his team to be more patient and take more pitches that the team wouldn't listen and continue with their approach, while if Abreu mentions somthing then it would be played out on the field.

Don't You Dare look at me

What is your thought about going to the gym? "I want to try and look better and feel better!" Not, "oh judge me!!!" Stop dead in your tracks right there usane bolt! I walk into the weight room the other day at my local fitness facility and what do I see. Two goons! Two juiced up apes staring me down like no other. Like I ran over thier puppy moments before hand.We get it youre macho dickheads! You can bench more than us! We get it you are way cooler than us because of your cut-off football camp shirts from 1999! We get it your eyes are wiggling around in your head since the juice has burnt any cells that may hold them in place but dont wiggle my way. We are all here for the same reason. No need for some meatball to look at me like i am not worthy of being in the weight room.
I think it is absolute hogwash that two crotch stains need to mean mug me, the grizzly bear in the gym (6'4", 280 lbs) and they are just meat head, banana eating, gorillas! Who wins in that fight? The animal with the bigger claws! So please dont look at us average folk or you might end up in a zoo where yours needles wont be filled with the junk but loaded with meds to put you down. And... And... In the zoo people will laugh at how small your balls are when you dont have shorts to cover them up!

JaMarcus, Before you laugh.... Read

A few years after Notre Dame got whooped by Lousiana State in the Sugar bowl, there was so much hype over the LSU quarterback, JaMarcus Russell. After that game it was the Browns who wanted Russell at any cost. The Oakland Raiders had the top pick and it seemed that there was no way possible that they would trade that pick, unless it was for a new overhead projector for Al Davis. (right)

Russell didn’t seem ready to come out of LSU. Considering prior to the season he was on nobodys board, and wasn't even a thought for the NFL draft. He just about seem to come into his own during his Junior year. In the past the SEC had owned him figuratively and physically. This was a man who needed that extra year of growth but after one of the best statistical Sugar Bowl’s of all time Russell wanted to cash in and how could you blame him.

Despite about a thousand different scenarios for what the Raiders should do they drafted young Jamarcus although numerous people (including myself) thought they should have drafted Wide Receiver Calvin Johnson to go along with WR Randy Moss and QB Kerry Collins. Davis and his pack of old man cronies had other ideas and the LSU product was selected first overall in the 2007 NFL draft. He wasn’t ready but we all knew that. He had tremendous upside, potential and talent… but Brian Bozworth had that too. He also had what everyone wants to see in their quarterback... A CANNON of an arm. Cannon might be an understatement.

(JaMarcus Russell #2)

Russell’s career didn’t start off on the right foot. How did that saying ever come about… the right foot? What if the person is a lefty? After a contract dispute that saw him miss the first 12 games of his rookie season. He would later sign a gigantic deal that would make Bernie Madoff jealous. Russell ended up as any rookie in that position would, not well. You can’t toss a rookie QB into the NFL toward the end of the year and expect peaches and cream. Last season marked his first full year in the league which included OTA’s, mini-camps and of course training camp. Russell had massive pressure on him to perform which to an extent he did, but at times he seemed lost just like a young child wearing a Redsox hat in the Bronx. This would lead to even bigger expectations for 2009 season.

But here’s a question… What has Oakland done for JaMarcus? Seems about nothin’. They haven’t sustained a Coach or Offensive Coordinator for an extended period of time. Their old grumpy owner is also medaling in team affairs especially in his, an area where most owners would not even come close to touching. They also haven’t given him a big time receiver. Drafting Darrius Heyward-Bey is another story. He like Russell is one of those “not developed but with loads of potential” guy. Although he was one of the top receivers in the 2009 draft he wasn’t the best by far. That tag belonged to our friend Michael Crabtree AKA “thugtree”. Heyward-Bey seems lost most of the time and the times that he isn’t lost are when he’s on the sideline. He’s still young too just like Russell and he’ll develop hopefully as well. A constant running back has also been lacking, although they did draft in 2008 Darren McFadden and Michael Bush. McFadden will one day will be considered one of the best running backs in the NFL. Any QB will tell you that their best friend is by far the 5 big, huge, massive, ugly freak of life linemen in front of them. I don’t feel the need to continue about that, lets just say I can find 5 freaks on the subway that may do a comparable job.         (Darrius Heyward-Bey #12)
This Season has been bad, real bad, really bad, really really bad.( and i thought i had a steal when i drafted him in my fantasy draft late)... (ugh) I mean I cant continue how bad this season has been for JaMarcus and some how they are 1-3. Through four games they should be 0-5. He is almost last in every statistical category that mean anything. This year JaMarcus is lost, hes out of sync and soon enough he maybe out of a job, but whos going to get it ? No one, the job is his and he is going to have to work with what hes got.
So it seems that the Raiders have hung our buddy JaMarcus out to dry. Like a starfish on the beach in the sun on a hot summer day. They basically gave him a map home written in the sand with the waves crashing in. They keep drafting the big potential but with current small returns. Their coaching staff year in and out is a complete mess leaving JaMarcus to learn new systems and schemes. The biggest issue of all is Al Davis inability to hire people who know what their doing. This is the biggest injustice to the paying fans of the bay area. He needs to sell the team or at least retire he is the reason why they are like this, he is the reason why they have averaged 4 wins out of 16 games since 2003. In the last 100 games the Oakland Raiders are 24-76. 24-76? 24-76!.... what???? How could this be? From 2000-2002 they won 3 straight AFC titles including 2 AFC title games and a trip to the Super Bowl. They’ve had 6 coaches since 2002. That’s mind Boggling. Oh and if you haven’t realized by now they are the laughing stock of the league in that time.
Where am I going with this? You leave meatheads in charge of your football team your going to get shit, and that’s what they are getting. Give JaMarcus a chance and maybe he’ll make you say THAT’S WHY WE DRAFTED HIM! But if you don’t which they haven’t then you’ll have a lot of JaMarcus to the USFL talk. Give him a chance!

THU YANKEES WIN....... game one

Yankees win Game One of the ALDS… only 10 more to go! Jeter went 2-2 with a Homer and 2 BBs and 2 RBIs. A-Rod got out of the playoff funk too going 2-3 with 2RBIs himself. CC Sabathia… Like water under the bridge goes 6 2/3 giving up 1 earned, striking out 8. Hughes, Coke, Chamberlain and Rivera finished off the game.

The Yankees look dominant today, besides Rivera giving up 2 hits in the 9th and posada crying so much he couldn’t see the ball. If the Yankees play like with, with the exception of Posada they should be able to close out the DS in 3 games.

Players of the Game
CC Sabathia and Derek Jeter

Play of the Game
Hideki Matsui’s 2 run HR in the 5th

Jeter’s Tied it up but the game was won for good on this BOMB

The Goat.
Jorge Posada

For being a cry baby about game 2 playing time and backing it up with 2 Passed balls, which one lead directly to a run for the Twins.

Game 2, Friday 6:07 pm

Nick Blackburn vs. AJ Burnett

(my pick) Yankees 6- Twins 3

CC leaving the game in the 7th to a standing ovation.

THUG-TREE, and Badboy Braylon

Today was a big day for 2 of the more recent “bad boy’s” of the NFL. The 49ers finally signed Michael “thug”tree to a deal. While the Browns shipped former pro bowler Braylon Edwards to the NY JETS for a bunch of spare parts but 2 draft picks. My main questions are is Crabtree going to be able to help the 3-1 49ers after not knowing any of the offense? And WTF is Eric Mangini doing? You sucked as a coach in New York so then what is your reason for getting more n more of your former Jets. This trade brings their current total to 11 unofficially.

I honestly feel that Crabtree and contribute to the 49ers. He has tremendous speed and hands and can make D-Backs miss. He was one of the most feared receivers in the NCAA the past 2 years and how he fell to the 10th overall selection boggles my mind. But, how he will be received by his teammates and coach is a different issue.

(Crabtree, with San Francisco Upper Management)

More Importantly Edwards will definitely have an impact on the Jets especially (WR) Jerricho Cotchery. Who currently is having an all pro season but with the addition of Edwards it seems that he wont be receiving the same double teams. Edwards brings a new dynamic that I feel I haven’t seen since Keyshawn Johnson. He can stretch the field. Sure the Jets had Laveranues Coles, who in his own right was a solid player and very good Jet but even he wasn’t a tremendous deep threat that Edwards can be. But the Michigan product isn’t an angel; there are recent assault allegations that will be investigated. Hopefully all will work out for the best, everything is dropped and he performs like he has the ability to do ...
but as a Life long Jets fan, we know it WONT                                                                                                            (Keyshawn Johnson, 1997)

Twins win the playin game... congrats, your reward? A next day trip to the Boogy Down.

The Twins

The Minnesota Twins have done the un-thinkable and have won the AL central when it looked like they were left for dead. There reward, a 6 pm start time tomorrow in the Bronx vs. the team with the best record in the MLB.... The Yankees for the first round of the playoffs. The best of 5 ALDS has slated for game one NYY Ace CC Sabathia take on the Twins Brian Duensing...WHO????  Most "experts" will tell you either the Yankees in 3 or 4, or how the yankees are going to collapse again. This team is different, it has cohesion and its not led by A-Rod, Rodriguez will have a bit of a back seat this post season due to Mark Teixiera, and i think itll work out tremendously for both of them. This is a baby murderers row vs. a team on borrowed time. The twins are a great team but have been playing playoff type games for the last 3 weeks, and are 0-7 vs the yanks this season.  The Yankees have 103 wins (which is by far tops in the MLB) and the Twins have 87, plus the Yanks play in the AL East widely considered the best division in the Game. What differes from the last few Yankee Post season disasters is this team has a pitching staff which includes now 2 setup men, as Joba moves back to the pen. Look for the yankees to take it in 3 and at most 4.                                                                        (A-Rod)

ALDS:
Yankees win 3-0 over Twins
Angels win 3-2 over Red Sox

NLDS:
Cardinals win 3-1 over Dodgers
Phillies win 3-1 over Rockies.

ALCS:
Yankees win 4-2 over Angels

NLCS:
Phillies win 4-3 over Cardinals

World Series:
Yankees 4-1 over Phillies.

Favre... What else can I say?

So Brett Favre retires... then unretires. He wants back in, but Greenbay doesn't want him. The ship him off the the JETS, After starting off 8-3 everyone thought Greenbay were a bunch of idiots considering at the time they were wallowing in middle of the pack (literally). People were calling a hudson superbowl, Jets vs. Giants. No one thought Favre's arm would fall apart, but it did and the Jets finished 9-7 and of course out of the playoffs. The Jets didn't want him back, and after numerous arm problems everyone thought that this was Favre's sawn song. This was it, Brett's idea of burning the Packers had backfired, he was too be made a fool. How could this happen. He un-retires and his plan turned out to be worse then the Mets signing Bobby Bonilla... Twice! The Jets released him, and Favre on Cue Retired. But we all know that this couldn't of been it. Theres no way that the NFLs most prolifent passer of all team would retire after a horrendous 2nd half for an AFC team who didn't even play the Packers, but for the time it was true... Brett Favre was retired forever.
( Favre as a NY Jet 2008)
Midway through the summer there was rumors that Brad Childress the Headcoach of the Vikings had contacted Brett Favre about possibly comming back, and Favre was listening saying " if i play next season, the only team i would play for would be the Vikings" This couldnt be! What!!!! How could Favre do that to the Packers. That would be like Derek Jeter wanting to play for the Redsox out of spite after the Yankees had given him everything. But it was happening, before our eyes Favre commin' back out of retirement as usual, but for the most hated rival the Packers have, the Vikings. People were discusted at the situtation and drama that was unfolding. Then it happened, he said that he didnt want to come back and it was dead. The Packer faithful still loved him and all was forgiven..... but how long would this last.

Out of the blue one August afternoon Poof, Bow and Bam. Here Favre was running out of the Vikings training facility with a Standard issue QB red No.4 Jersey. This made Packers fans upset, irrate, bitter and discusted. It made Viking fans happy, joyful and proud. Considering the man who had beaten em time in and out over the past 15 years was on their side... and more importantly it made them Super Bowl Contenders. It made the NFL fan sick to their stomach, once again 24-7 coverage about Favre was all over ESPN ( the sports soap opera network) . One NFL aficionado has stated "brett farve has become a joke, his me first attitude and inability to make a decision reguarding his career without drawing as much attention to himself as possible has turned people against him, myself included" ( L. Tilden) So much controversey surrounded the team, about how teammates didnt want him, didnt like him and didnt care for him. We heard about issues, alliances and something called an "intra team" schism. Half the team didn't even know what that was, but there was Favre... back for revenge against the team that didn't want him, and let him go. Hes back for one reason and one only... he wants blood. He wants to shaft the Pack and beat them down. He doesnt care if he burns bridges or ties or even cheese factories. We all know what he wants, and theres a possbility he may get it.

So many "experts" have said that he'll fall apart again, that his 39 very soon to be 40 year old body can't hold up anymore and hes only in it for his continuous games started streak. Personally Chris Mortensen from ESPN is not an expert, hes a complete moron. There Favre was 2-0 Vikings vs. 2-0 San Francisco, and in typical dramatic Fasion their he was throwing a prayer to the endzone with no time remaining only to be caught for a touchdown and a victory. So that set up the Monday Night Football game, and definately the game of the week. The Packers visiting the Vikings. The ole man didnt seem to care. He lit up the Packers as the Vikings defeated the Packers 30-23. Im sure Favre slept well last night because of that, and how today so many packer fans had a bad taste in there mouth (probably from all the booze they drank after the game) and because he wasn't touched at all during the game. He is also on pace to set a career high in QB rating and passing accuracy.

But there he is ... the ole man that wouldnt go away. Kinda like that guy with the knee braces at the basketball court, the old man that always wants "in", the guy who can barely move, the guy who sweats from barely moving, the man who wears a cut off shirt and high shorts even though he shouldnt. Brett Favre is THAT guy.... but Don't be surprised if that old smelly man at the court lights it up, with great shots, passes and more importantly his experience and wisdom. Brett Favre is like that. Hes that old man at the court that wont go away, that people dont want, but when that old man is on the court he makes the opposition say, Damn that ole timmer can still play

the ole man still doin it

Other Towns and States loose teams, NOT NEW YORK

Ever since 1994 I have been attending the Nassau Veterens Memorial Coliseum, mainly for New York Islanders games. The building then and especially now is old, ran down and very antiquated. It's the butt of many jokes especially to Rangers fans and non hockey followers. But to New York Islander fans its home. Although it is old, ran down and very antiquated it is still our building, the building that brought home four straight stanley cups from 1979-1983. Since that time there really hasn't been much too cheer for. They did make it back to the 1984 Stanley Cup finals but were defeated, they also had a playoff run in 1993.

In the 1995 season the Islanders front office decided to do something that theoretically could of sent them "back" years. When they decided to change their logo and jerseys to the infamous fisherman logo, that truely made them the laughing stock of the NHL. After doing away with it shortly there after they went back too their roots and brought back jerseys very similar to the originals, but with horrendous owners and frequent changes and cutbacks the Isles were still a joke as numerous players turned over many to become NHL allstars and Olympians in the future.

After having a horrendous year in 2000, many fans were fed up and discusted. How could this once proud franchise be subjected to such pathetic play. Compound that with their building which was dubbed the Nassau Mausoleum..... seemed like they had lost the fans too. But when Sanjay Kumar and Charles Wang bought the team, it brought back excitement, pride and potential respectability. With the signings of many free agents the Islanders had the single best turn around in NHL history, and all was well on the island even though they were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs 4 games to 3. Since that 2001-2002 season which they won 3 post season games, they have only made the playoffs 3 times and winning one game in each of those series. In that time they have failed to qualify 3 times, and that doesnt include the 2004-2005 NHL lockout, which didnt help either.
(Milbury, Peca, Laviolette)

Now is a different time. The Isles have drafted with the number one overall pick, Future stud John Taveres, and many including myself think he can save the franchise and keep them in Nassau County, similar to what Sidney Crosby has done in Pittsburgh. It was only a few years ago that the Penguins were in a similar building situation with the Mellon Arena. An old building and a stubborn town board that needed to change, and they did. They also drafted correctly and added key free agents.....a team built and they made the post season a few times including the last two times in the Stanley Cup finals, eventually having Crosby lifting the cup this past Spring. Personally Long Island needs to take a page out of the Pittsburgh book, considering all three of there franchises have recieved or will recieve new buildings.
(Moulson w/ Taveres After his first NHL goal 10/03/2009)

Charles Wang is willing to shell out 4 billion dollars of his own money... OF HIS OWN MONEY to not only rebuild the Coliseum but the whole surrounding area of it. I have no clue what the hold up could be, the county supervisor Tom Suozzi is all for it, yet town supervisor Kate Murray for some reason isn't. Because of this reason and on top of Wang looseing over 20 million dollars a year, he is considering selling the team. Potentially the team could stay on Long Island, be moved to another part of New York, or even to another part of the USA, like Kansas City or Los Vegas. Personally I have no clue why the "light house project" isn't being built, but it is making me mad. Its stupid and inconsiderate that this hasn't moved forward. Sure the Islanders haven't been great lately but HE'S SPENDING HIS OWN MONEY!!! It just doesn't make sense that some one would literally let the Isles skate away, to a new city or town.

Don't get me wrong, when its filled the ole"barn" can sure be one of the loudest buildings in the NHL, but it doesnt seem that its about ticket sales any more.

( this is my first blog, I will improve)
