J E T S JETS JETS JETS

JETS WIN 38-0. New York ran a muck and the Defensive was dominant as the Jets handed Oakland their 5th loss of the season. With a ball-hawking defense and a punishing running game, the New York Jets took the pressure off struggling rookie QB Mark Sanchez and handed the Raiders their most lopsided home loss ever. Sanchez shook off the worst start of his young career by running for one touchdown and throwing for another, fellow rookie Shonn Greene ran for 144 yards and two scores and the Jets snapped a three-game losing streak. Fellow running Thomas Jonesback didn't have a shabby day as he rushed for 121 and tallyed a score as well. Jones has over 600 yards on the year and is looking to follow up last years probowl with another this season. He is on pace for over 1250 yards. It was the first time that a team has had back to back 300 yard rushing games since the early 70's. Other rushing contributors included Steve Weatherford and Danny Woodhead, who both had over 15 yards on the ground. The ground game though suffered a huge loss as Leon Washington went down with a broken fibula early in the 1st half. Washington going down was a large part in Greene getting the majority of his carries.
The defensive was marvelous forcing four turnovers including 2 on the first 2 plays from scrimmage for the struggling Raiders. Calvin pace had 3 sacks and overall dominated the trenches. The defensive blacks played awesome and in general the D was stout. The only blemish would be Jay Feely's missed FG in the 4th quarter. JaMarcus Russell was benched in the 2nd quarter in favor of Toledo product Bruce Gradkowski, who in fact showed signs of life. Russell has been criticized the entire season due to poor condition, play and overall work ethic. Their maybe a controversy brewing in the black hole. Oakland had some people turning heads as they pulled out an amazing defeat of a stacked Eagles team last week. The Jets(4-3)take on Miami (2-3)home next week while the Raiders(2-5) visit the San Diego Chargers (3-3).
