11 Years ago, the 1998 Yankees still the best.
11 Years ago today, the Greatest team of all time the 1998 New York Yankees Clinched the World Series in San Diego. The Yanks finished the regular season with a then record 114 wins to only 48 losses. Which led them to have a 22 game lead in their divison at seasons end. Since then the 2001 Mariners won 116 games but lost in the ALCS to yes.... the Yankees. The Series was a sweep and only lasted 5 days. 3 of the 4 games were close with the only game not being was a game two 9-3 victory for the bombers. The MVP was Scott Brosius who had 8 hits in 17 atbats for a .471 batting average. This also included 2 Homeruns and 6 RBI's. The teams final record after the playoffs was ana AMAZING 125-50.
