whAT?

Wtf?

Michigan Wolverines

Did Denard Robinson just win the Heisman???  The Michigan QB  made a strong case for the Heisman trophy Saturday against Notre Dame. Robinson gained a QB school-record 502 yards of total offense, including 258 yards rushing on 28 carries and 244 more passing. He scored the game-winning TD with 27 seconds remaining to defeat the Irish 28-24.
Personally Im loving the fact that Michigan is 2-0. A good Michigan equals a better Big 10. I hope "R-Rod" has a great season and leads them to a quality bowl game. This also means that Ohio State vs. Michigan may actually be watchable this year. Too bad Notre Dame doesn't just smarten up and join a conference already.

Logan Mankins

Pro Bowl guard Logan Mankins recently apologized to Patriots owner Robert Kraft for questioning his integrity, but no longer wants to play for New England. Multiple sources familiar with the situation told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter that the Patriots requested Mankins to also issue a public apology and not only did Mankins refuse, but he became offended.

but wait a minute fady

http://i2.cdn.turner.com/si/2009/writers/ian_thomsen/11/13/countdown/lebron-wade.jpg          Wait a second, hold the phone. All im going to say is that I think it is a lock he signs with Miami. How come EVERY FREE AGENT has had disclosed the money for their new contract, yet D-Wade and Bosh have not? Its because they do not know how much cheddar they want because they are going to take less because the King is going to south beach. I feel its a lock that he Wade and Bosh with the King will be together for the 10-11 season, thus putting us Knick fans out of our misery.

The only way this is possible is if they all accept below the max or they could trade Michael Beasley would some one would scoop up in a heart beat..., but lets face it if they really want to play together and win they will make it work, realize their is only 1 ball and take less cash..... Wouldn't you?????

BY FADY MUSA

http://dribbledrive.files.wordpress.com/2009/03/lebron.jpgSorry to break it to everybody but LeBron will resign with the Cavaliers.

Reasons:
He likes having fun – Playing in New York is not fun, it’s business. He is not guaranteed to have a winning team, with the Knicks or Bulls and those cities put pressure on stars to win. In Cleveland he will not be Booed, maybe the team but not directly. New York and Chicago Media will make his failures stand out vs. his competition for best player in the league. Hey may even get called a cancer. His personality type does not posses the Jordan/Kobe let me prove people wrong mentality.
Money & EGO – Even though it’s not a big difference in salary he wouldn’t take less to be on the Knicks or Bulls. He has a big ego, so for Chris Bosh & Dwayne Wade to make $125 million; it’s a blow to his ego. Playing in Cleveland he can still do business in NY with Jay-Z and Warren Buffet; and he still gets more sponsorship dollars than Arod and Jeter combined.
Twitter/Guilt: His new twitter account says King of Akron. And the future of Cleveland’s economy depends on it. It would be too much guilt. His home and family and roots are in Cleveland and leaving might make him a villain. Arod opts out of his contract during the WS vs. LeBron having interviews during NBA Finals; Cleveland media didn’t trash LBJ like NY Media did to Arod.
LeBron has known all along he is staying in Cleveland, he just craves the attention. He wants Cleveland fans to appreciate him more so his team doesn’t get booed off the court like they did this year in the playoffs.

KGjr

http://beyondthebeat.files.wordpress.com/2009/02/jr.jpg        Today Ken Griffey Jr. has retired. Wow, “the Kid” is now 40 yrs old and was hitting .184 with 0 home runs through 98 at bats this season. Many people ask who is the best player you have ever seen, just in common discussion. The popular pick is Albert Pujols or A-Rod. I usually say either Mariano Rivera or Mr. Griffey Junior. In the 1990’s for the Seattle Mariners Griffey was by far the MVP of the MLB. His dazzling defense, combined with his tremendous power and great eye for pitches definite made him a prized commodity during the start of the new century. Following the death of his neighbor Payne Stewart in 1999 he expressed the desire to move and play closer to home so that he could be with his family more frequently. Seattle granted this wish. His time in Cincinnati was marred by injury after injury. Although he would have some good seasons, they were nothing like his back to back 56 Homerun seasons in the 90s, or his 5 yr span in which he hit 40 of more homeruns. In comparison in 1997 he would win the MVP by blasting 56 homeruns and driving in 147 runs and hitting .304. This was historically one of the better seasons in history.

http://cdn-www.cracked.com/articleimages/wong/griffey2.jpg          But besides the numbers and his ability, the reason why I and others loved Griffey was because of the way he played. Even though he KILLED the Yankees every game. His reckless abandon plus this youthful demeanor and style was second to none. Every kid in the 90s wanted to play baseball with their hat backwards, swing for the fences and after contact drop the bat and slow walk towards first for their first few steps… just like Griffey. His N64 game was legendary and the fact that his style of nike sneakers are still popular is the ultimate testament to know “G” he is.
Unfortunately Kids get old and so did Griffey, after resigning in a “homecoming” type fashion with Seattle in 2009 he would hit 19 home runs and drive in 57 while batting under .220, these numbers showed that he was a flash of his former self. When Seattle offered him a new contract he signed and was on the roster again for his 22nd MLB season. But, 2 months into the season he has realized that his time is up, and his career is over. A career that started in 1989 and would last the span of four decades has concluded. Its been fun for all and most definitely Junior Griffey has left his mark. And yes, He has the sweetest swing ever.

During his postfight conversation with Cain Velasquez, UFC analyst Joe Rogan captured the moment saying, "to be a legend, you have to beat a legend." Velasquez is now on the fast track to a UFC heavyweight title shot after taking out veteran Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira in less than three minutes. Even more impressive was the way the former Arizona State wrestler did it. The 27-year-old made "Big Nog" look slow and landed anything he wanted with kicks and punches

Fightin words

Bus Fightin' Man Already An Oakland Legend

As noted earlier, the punchy old man who likes to deliver beat downs on Oakland bus riders appears to have been identified and it was not, as they say, "his first rodeo."
The ID is not definitive, but observers on the web believe that the "I am a motherfucker" in question is Thomas Bruso, who was arrested at an Oakland A's game last year after a confrontation with police. He's seems a little bit thinner and a lot more aggressive, but it may be the man alternately known as "Tom Slick," "Vietnam Tom" and now "Epic Beard Man." He has been known around the Bay Area for many years and one local blogger described him thusly:
Back in 1996, I was working at the intersection of 2nd & Market. Each and every day the man pictured above would walk by my shop, wave a loaf of sourdough in my face, and scream obscenities about the San Francisco 49′ers.
He is also the type of guy is that lies about his age to make himself seem older. (The police reports from the ballgame arrest lists him as 64.) Who knows what his military background or current mental status is, but he definitely seems a little unstable and very, very strong. And also a new hero to anyone who has been harassed on public transportation. Here's another video that appears to be taken shortly after the bus incident.

Why are their so many people at the "desk", in the "booth" or on the field? Basically Back in the day when you watched sports their were 2 guys. The color commentator and the announcer. The color guy added remarks before and following while adding what he knows about the sport. The announcer just called what he saw. That's it. So know why do we have 3 guys in the booth? 2 GUys on the field? and 4,5 or 6 guys back at the studio? Fox is a Prime example of this . These shows are only on for about at most an hour. They Have JB (host, left), Terry, Strahan, Howie and Jimmy Johnson (the coach). They just recently added Strahan, basically taking away from air time from the 3 other guys who know wtf they are talking about. Maybe Michael Strahan eventually will be a good commentator but as of now hes not and Fox did a diservice to all by adding him and cluttering the desk.

USFL rise and fall part 1

As the superbowl concluded, im sure it wasn't on many minds but think of this. What if the USFL was around today, could Peyton Manning and/or Drew Brees be apart of the league that once had Hall of Famers Steve Young and Jim Kelly. When you think about it, i could definately see a guy like Manning, or a Kurt Waner playing for USFL.
http://nflplaya.com/images/USFL_logo.gifThe Inital vision was a part of a plan to have football continue into the spring but via. a new and different football league, with their own teams, players and coaches. David Dixon has been credited with the idea and founder of the league. He studied how previous leagues like the AFL and world football league tried and failed. Initally Dixon signed up 12 cities, 9who where there already home to NFL teams meaning the other three were not. Also was a television deal with setup with ABC sports and a cable deal with then relatively new network ESPN. The deals yielded roughly $13 million in 1983 and $16 million in 1984, including $9 million per year from ABC. ABC had options for the 1985 season at $14 million and 1986 at $18 million. So not a "shabby" deal for the new league which hadn't even played a preseason game yet.
As Play begin problems with stadiums and ownership occurs, which isn't farfetched considering it is a new league with no home fields. Once play actually started, the league experienced had same kind of franchise instability, relocation, and closure that most leagues competing with the NFL have seen. It certainly can be argued by proponents that most teams going over budget starting in the first year and having overly optimistic attendance and viewership projections accelerated franchise churn.

The Day that could of shifted the Balance of Power in the NBA

http://thebasketballoracle.files.wordpress.com/2009/05/darko-milicic-on-draft-day-2003.jpg          It was June 26th 2003, The 2003 NBA DRAFT Live from the Madison Square Garden. The first selection belonged to Cleveland and it was obvious that they would select LeBron James. The second selection belong to the Detriot Pistons (by way of Memphis/ via (Vancouver)), and the Third belonged to the Denver Nuggets. The previous year the Pistons had a great team that made it to the Eastern Conference finals but lost. The top five prospects for the draft were Lebron James, Carmello Anthony, Chris Bosh, Dwayne Wade and a little known Serbian named Darko Milicic. At the time of the draft Milicic was 18 years and 3 days old and was what people called a prodigy. He was raw, uncut but had so much potential that it made some NBA GM's estatic. At the time Larry Brown was the coach of the Pistons and wanted some raw talent. Carmello Anthony was also very young and raw being only 19. That was the day that accidently shifted the NBA.
http://i.a.cnn.net/si/2005/writers/drew_packham/03/14/starting.five/p1_carmelo-getty.jpg             During the 2002-2003 season Anthony seemed to not be a "one and done" player. He was projected late first round. Then came the big east tournament where he improved his status to the draft lottery. Once came time for the NCAA Championship tourney, Anthony carried the Syracuse Orange to their first and only championship thus improving his draft status to "any year number 1, but not the same year Lebron James is around so basically he'll go #2"  Carmello was a great talent, who won a championship... and you can't teach winning. But then came along this guy named Darko. To be honest I do not know why Darko had all the hype but he did.
So there was draft day 2003, Lebron went one. Then came #2 and Brown and the Pistons selected ... Darko Milicic. Mr. Anthony would then go number 3. Number four would have the Raptors land Chris Bosh and #5 would see the Miami Heat select Dwayne Wade.
So what ... in 2004 The Pistons would trade for Rasheed Wallace and would eventually win the NBA championship that comming spring. But Darko Struggled and barely played, he had a bench role. While Anthony started all 82 games, was on the all rookie team and averaged 21 pts and 6 rebounds. Milicic would play 34 games and average just under 1.5 pts per contest. The next year Anthony would average just under 21 points but increased his FG percentage, while Darko only managed less then 2 pts per game. Midway through the following season 2005-2006 he would be shipped to Orlando, then eventually Memphis, then now finally NY where it seems he will end his NBA career following the conclusion of this season. Melo basically has been the opposite averageing about 24 points per game for his career, being named an allstar 3 times and winning an olympic Gold Medal. The #1,3,4 and 5 selections have all been named to the All NBA team atleast once while all four of them plus the #6 selection (Chris Kaman) have all been selected to the All-star game atleast once too. While Darko never even came anywhere close.
http://13puntosen35s.blogspot.es/img/LebronJamesDraft.jpg       Darko Never panned out to be anything close to what he could or should of been . While Melo has been more then expected, even though that was alot. Compare the teams now. Detroit although they won in 2004, currently have a losing record and are struggling in the EAST, while Denver is the 2nd team in the West and 3rd team overall, and are in great posistion to challenge the Lakers for their western crown. Its hard to say that this one draft could of changed the landscape of the NBA but it certainly did. Consider if Melo' would be in the east, think of the shift of power in the NBA and the rivalry their could of been between Lebron (Cleveland) and Wade (Miami). Denver would be most likely weaker while the Pistons would still be reaping the benefits. BUT instead Darko was drafted... Melo went to the west and the East is still in shambles cause of it...............
http://www.nypost.com/rw/nypost/2009/11/29/sports/photos_stories/crooped/darko_milicic--300x300.jpg
Darko has been labeled one of the worst draft selections ever. In the final year of his contract he is currently slumping and slumming in New York City. He is making over 7 million dollars but has only appeared in 8 games for the Knicks while averaging 2 points per contest. The Knicks should buy Milicic out of his deal, he is just wasting a roster spot that could be utilized PLUS he plans to continue his career in Europe next season. The 7-footer has become such an afterthought that the Knicks did not even bother to reveal that he did not show up for work. Knicks president Donnie Walsh would not rule out the possibility that Milicic may not finish the season in New York but quickly added, "He practices hard and kept himself in shape.

Darko's Last game was November 13th....

3 days grace review......by Matt Cole

http://images1.fanpop.com/images/image_uploads/Album-Cover-three-days-grace-1019860_600_600.jpg     Let’s see folks! This past Friday (The 5th) I went to the Three Days Grace concert at the Washington Amory in Albany, NY. Those who know me this isn’t my scene at all and I really didn’t know any of their songs. I am more of a hip hop and sappy pop music kind of cat. So I will fire off a review of this show.
Flyleaf… hmmm… The lead singer was smoking hot for being a borderline dwarf. But smoking hot!!!! You couldn’t really hear her at all so it was kind of just an instrumental rather than an actual set. Then there was the bassist. This jackass has his own little box on stage to climb on the just jump off randomly. May I stress randomly. It was rather shallow and pedantic. I would of thought it was awesome except he didn’t do it to the music at all. To say the least he was rhythmically retarded and had no reason to be on the stage. I spent a lot of time at the beer service station.
Chavelle… Very interesting and probably could have headlined their own show in smaller context. There have a rather hard sound and you can definitely hear the lyrics so the music has so much more meaning. I am going to be rather honest with you kind folks, I didn’t really listen very closely to this band because I was more concerned with getting a nice buzz before the main event.
Drumroll please…. The band who’s music I had never really familiarized myself with… I loved it! It was one of the best times I had ever had in my life. The fact that I was only about 10 feet from the stage was even better minus the dickeads, yes two. The show had not even started and this drunk midget had been jumping around trying to get a pit going without any music so he ran and jumped into me… I pushed the oompa loompa by the throat to the ground. The rest of the surrounding folks were rather annoyed and such so in my suave jackass manner I convinced him to crowd surf so he would be thrown to the back of the venue by security. I had to do the same to another idiot too. The crowd was awesome. The stage presence of the band was electrifying. They worked the crowd so well and kept us riled up and jumping. The announced they couldn’t play “riot” and the crowd was so heartbroken and then they said “fuck it” and played it anyways. The insanity that was hidden in the crowd came out like a river over rapids mixed with a rough chinese meal. For not knowing any of their songs, I knew a lot if that made any sense. The setlist was rediculous and kept everything going. I sweat through every layer of clothing I had on.
In review, Flyleaf needs better sound people so they can turn up the lead singers mic. Chavelle, a hard, rock, sound and was very good as background drinking noise. Three Days Grace… Wow!!!!!!!!!! Loved it even though when I got outside I was an ice cube.

That’s alllllllllllllll FOLK!!!!!!!!!!!

SUPER BOWL

As the Dust Settles, is anyone really surprised the Saints won. They did start off 13-0. Its not like it was the Lions who played the Colts. The saints and the colts were the best two teams in the NFL all season, so i really dont know what the fuss is about. People would have you think a JV HS team beat Peyton and the Colts.

Lee

In case you are wondering why i have not posted a blog about David Lee being the biggest NBA All-star snub is because I assume some one will back out thus letting Lee in. Therefore i will not have to post something baout why i think it is a discrace he has not been allowed in the game.

Lady Gaga...ugh.... grammys

 But hello NADEEA

The history of the Hockey Mask.

The Hockey Goalie Mask that has saved lives, was once seen as a joke and embarrassment to the game. Its hard to imagine that at one time goalies did not use face masks. In 1959 Jacques Plante (right) missed numerous games due to a facial issue. While playing for Montreal netminder Plante was struck in the face early in a game vs the Rangers and became injured with a broken nose. With their back up goalie also eing injured Plante re-emerged after treatment with a home made mask. The coach Toe Blake at that point felt that this was a discrace to the game and was livid and irrate, but Plante refused to continue to play unless he was permitted to wear the mask. Blake and Plante agreed that once the cut had healed that Plante would disguard the mask, they won 18 in a row. Then Plante shed the mask and Montreal lost 3-0, the mask was back the next game and the Montreal Canadiens would then eventually win there 5th stanley cup. Although Plante was an innovater, he wasn't the first. In 1929 Clint Benedict wore a home made leather mask ( below with hat) to protect his nose, but that was only for one game. Plante would be the first to use the mask on an everyday basis. Plante is also in the Hockey Hall Of Fame.

The Masks have come along way, from being home made to being professionaly customized to what ever the athlete wants. In some cases the artwork has nothing to do with the team and is pretty cool. It lets them express what ever they choose.

Here is a history of the evolution of the Mask.

In the late 70s Gerry Cheevers would draw stiches on his mask everytime and place he was hit in the face, symbolizing the damage that would of been done with out the mask.
